LA. prosecutors will not charge Bill Cosby after charge a woman recently accused the comedian of sexually assaulting her 40 years ago.
In a lawsuit, Judy Huth alleges that Cosby sexually assaulted her when she was 15 years old, and that the incident has led to "mental anguish" and "significant problems throughout her life."
According to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's office her request for prosecution was declined due to the expiration of the statute of limitations.
In papers filed in L.A. Superior Court on Dec. 3 Cosby's lawyer, Martin Singer, says Huth's claims "are absolutely false" and her case "fails to state sufficient facts to constitute a cause of action for claims arising out of alleged childhood sexual abuse."
In addition, Singer notes that Huth failed to provide a certificate of merit – from her attorney and a licensed mental health practitioner – to back up her claims of "mental anguish."
